Ballot Stamp or mark required
Kansas law, KSA 25-4608, requires the board to place a unique mark or stamp on a ballot when it is issued for it to be valid. This law has been in place since middle 1900's to combat ballot stuffing and is to verify the ballot was issued by a board.

The Douglas County Clerk serves as the County's Election Officer with the responsibility for the planning and operation of all elections held in the county (as required by Kansas Statutes and Administrative regulations) and maintains all records relating to such elections.
A constitutional question has been added to the ballot for the general election held on November 3, 2026. Click the button below to see the full text of the proposed constitutional amendment.
Jamie Shew
County Clerk
Jamie Shew was elected County Clerk and County Election Officer for Douglas County, Kansas in 2004 and is currently serving his sixth term. Prior to his election, he worked in higher education administration and business management.
Jamie is active in the Election Center, Kansas Association of Counties, Bipartisan Policy Center Task Force on Elections, and the Kansas County Clerks & Elections Officials Association, where he served as president in 2014–15. He serves on the U.S. Election Assistance Commission Standards Board and U.S. EAC Local Leadership Council, and co-chairs the Election Center Legislative Committee.
