Our Story
Department History
Consolidated Fire District #1 (CFD#1) was established by Douglas County Resolution 20-25 in June, 2020 through integration of Douglas County Fire departments from Wakarusa, Eudora, Kanwaka, Lecompton, and Clinton Townships. CFD#1 began its official first year of operation on January 1, 2021. CFD #1 covers 228 square miles across central and northern rural Douglas County, KS including Clinton Lake and Lone Star Lake, as well as portions of I-70, K-10, US-40, and US-59 highways. CFD#1 is an all-hazards First Response agency providing both Fire and Emergency Medical services. CFD#1 supports the community through outreach and public education programs including CPR instruction and Stop the Bleed®.
