Senior Wheels is a division of the Senior Resource Center that has been providing origin-to-destination transportation to seniors across Douglas County since 1973!

Rides are available Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Call 785-727-7876 to schedule.

Call 785-727-7876. Rides are high in demand, so schedule your ride in advance. Unfortunately, Senior Wheels cannot provide same-day service.

Senior Wheels FAQ

Seniors who are residents of Douglas County can use the Senior Wheels service.

Rides are available Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

City Rides
Within same city limits, including Lawrence, Eudora, Baldwin City, etc. Multiple stops are charged as separate rides.

  • $4.00 one-way/$8.00 round-trip

County Rides
Outside of city limits or from one city to another within Douglas County.

  • $6.00 one-way/$12.00 round-trip

After completing the New Rider Form, simply call 785-727-7876. Calls are answered and messages are returned in the order they are received during office hours, M-F 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM.

Independence, Inc. Transportation 

Since 1978, Independence, Inc. has served as a resource in Lawrence and Northeast Kansas through our mission to maximize the independence of people with disabilities through advocacy, peer support, training, transportation and community education.

To schedule a ride, call 785-843-5576 from 8:30 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday.

Lawrence Transit System: The T and T-Lift Paratransit

The T provides fixed-route and on-demand service in Lawrence. Visit their website for routes and on-demand information.

The T-Lift provides paratransit service in Lawrence for those who qualify. Visit the Lawrence Transit website or call 785-864-4644 for an application and more information.
