There are numerous volunteer opportunities at the Senior Resource Center.

  • Counsel other seniors on Medicare options through the SHICK (Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas) program. Application and training required
  • Share your hobby or personal interest with other seniors by helping staff lead a related activity
  • Help seniors cross the digital divide by providing assistance with computer/smart phone
  • Volunteer Senior Wheels Driver (Baldwin City and Eudora)
  • Safe Winter Walkways (Partner with the City of Lawrence to ensure seniors’ sidewalks are shoveled in the winter months)
  • Yard Work (Help with raking leaves, mowing, and basic yard work)
  • Odds & Ends…just help seniors with basic tasks around their home or other small projects

Volunteering with SRC is Rewarding and Flexible!

We are flexible! Volunteer as often as you have time. Once a month, once a week, or by appointment when you have free time!

Become a Medicare Counselor

Become one of many Medicare counselors across the state who assist area seniors to navigate the changing conditions in health care insurance and to cut through the confusion. Help educate seniors on topics related to Medicare and other insurance issues.

Make a Lasting Impact

You can support FSRC in the long-term by contributing to the Friends of the Senior Resource Center Endowment Fund held at the Douglas County Community Foundation.  Call 785-843-8727 or visit www.DCCFoundation.org

You can direct the interest paid on various stocks, bonds, or other interest-bearing assets to benefit the Friends of the Senior Resource Center. Ask your financial advisor how you can blend this type of gift into your overall financial plan.

Set aside a gift to the Friends of the Senior Resource Center in your will or name FSRC as a beneficiary to a life insurance policy or retirement plan. Set aside any percentage or a policy, or designate the remainder of your estate (after other planned gifts and expenses). Ask your attorney how you can make these adjustments to your final estate plan.
