Options for renewing vehicle tag registration in Douglas County, Kansas.
Renew Online at iKan

Your sticker will be mailed to you. Please allow 2 weeks for processing.
NOTE: YOU ARE INELIGIBLE TO RENEW ONLINE AND WILL NEED TO RENEW BY MAIL OR DROP BOX IF:
- You have moved during your registration period (please see Renewal FAQ)
- If your plate has expired (please see Renewal FAQ)
- Your insurance company did not submit your policy information to the state, or the vehicle does not have insurance (for example trailers that do not have their own policy)
- You have a personalized plate and need to reorder in the new 2020 series (see Renewal FAQ)
Renew In Person — Downtown or West (Sixth Street) location
The Treasurer’s office Downtown and West location is now open to walk-in customers.
The Downtown office is at 1100 Massachusetts St. and West location is at 2601 W 6th St.
To renew in person, you will need:
- One of the following:
- Renewal form sent out by State of Kansas (if you did not receive your renewal notice you can print it off at https://mvs2.dmv.kdor.ks.gov/PrintRenewals/.)
- Current Kansas registration receipt
- Tag number
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
- Proof of liability insurance from insurance provider. Proof must contain insurance company name, policy number, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), year and make of vehicle, effective date and expiration date.
- Payment:
- Cash
- Checks accepted with picture ID (driver's license)
- All major credit/debit cards, a processing fee will apply
Renew By Mail Or Drop Box
PLEASE MAKE A PACKET THAT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
- Renewal notice (If you do not have your renewal notice, you can reprint it at https://mvs.dmv.kdor.ks.gov/PrintRenewals/)

— You may handwrite the information on the renewal worksheet on a separate paper if you do not have access to a printer — - Include copy of insurance for each vehicle
- Payment option (Check, cashier’s check or money order made payable to Douglas County Treasurer. If wanting to pay by card, please fill out the Credit Card Authorization Form (PDF) and include in your packet)

Non-RV trailers and trucks with a gross weight of 16,000 pounds or more renew from Jan 2nd through last day of Feb. Enforcement date is March 1st.
