Cool Voting 7/27-7/31
It is COOL inside the Douglas County Elections Office, 711 W 23rd St. so stop by and advance vote. We have extended hours from 8 am to 6 pm, Mon 7/27 to Fri 7/31. Bring your ID, cool down and cast your ballot for the Primary Election.
Advance Voting Numbers
Here are the numbers for advance voting from 7/15-7/25. In-person advance voting including today 2,286 voters. We have mailed 2,545 ballots and received 436 back in our office.
Saturday 7/25/26 totals
Total voter turnout numbers for the 7/25 Sat voting: Lecompton 27, Eudora 39, Baldwin City 72 and Lawrence 234. Voting starts again at the Election office at 8 am on Monday, 7/27.

Voting and Elections
The Douglas County Clerk serves as the County's Election Officer with the responsibility for the planning and operation of all elections held in the county (as required by Kansas Statutes and Administrative regulations) and maintains all records relating to such elections.
A constitutional question has been added to the ballot for the primary election held on August 4, 2026. Click the button below to see the full text of the proposed constitutional amendment.
Jamie Shew
County Clerk
Jamie Shew was elected County Clerk and County Election Officer for Douglas County, Kansas in 2004 and is currently serving his sixth term. Prior to his election, he worked in higher education administration and business management.
Jamie is active in the Election Center, Kansas Association of Counties, Bipartisan Policy Center Task Force on Elections, and the Kansas County Clerks & Elections Officials Association, where he served as president in 2014–15. He serves on the U.S. Election Assistance Commission Standards Board and U.S. EAC Local Leadership Council, and co-chairs the Election Center Legislative Committee.
