If you have received an ballot by mail and have not returned it, drop it off elections office, any polling place on election day, or a secure drop box, Advanced Voting Drop Box Locations We do not recommend mailing it less than one week from an election.

Voting and Elections
The Douglas County Clerk serves as the County's Election Officer with the responsibility for the planning and operation of all elections held in the county (as required by Kansas Statutes and Administrative regulations) and maintains all records relating to such elections.
Notice of Ballot Audit
As required by K.S.A. 25-3009, a postelection audit of ballots cast in 1% of precincts in Douglas County Kansas will begin at 9 A.M. on Monday, August 10th, at the election office.
We will audit no less than one precinct and one contested race for this primary election. The precincts and races to be audited will be selected in a random drawing on August 6th at 9AM.
When the audit has been completed, the audit results are used by the county board of canvassers when certifying the official election results.

Jamie Shew
County Clerk
Jamie Shew was elected County Clerk and County Election Officer for Douglas County, Kansas in 2004 and is currently serving his sixth term. Prior to his election, he worked in higher education administration and business management.
Jamie is active in the Election Center, Kansas Association of Counties, Bipartisan Policy Center Task Force on Elections, and the Kansas County Clerks & Elections Officials Association, where he served as president in 2014–15. He serves on the U.S. Election Assistance Commission Standards Board and U.S. EAC Local Leadership Council, and co-chairs the Election Center Legislative Committee.
