The Douglas County Public Works Department announces that beginning Monday, March 9, project work will commence to improve roadside safety on Route 1055 (E 1700 Road) from Route 12 (N 400 Road) to Route 460 (N 700 Road) at Vinland. Initial work consists of tree removal within road right-of-way between N 500 Road to N 600 Road.  Route 1055 will remain open to through traffic during tree removal work, which is expected to complete by March 20.

Effective January 5, 2015, all licensed attorneys are required to utilize the Kansas Courts Electronic Filing System when filing all new cases or documents within existing cases with the Douglas County District Court.  To assist attorneys with their e-filing inquiries, the court has created an page dedicated to e-filing on the county's website.  The page contains answers to frequently asked questions, troubleshooting information and related documents, as well as a link to a YouTube training video on electronic filing. 


The Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council will hold a grant workshop on Thursday, January 22nd encouraging potential grant applicants to learn more about the new guidelines and criteria for the 2015 Douglas County Natural & Cultural Heritage Grant Program cycle. The meeting will be at the Carnegie Center, 200 West 9th Street in Lawrence at 7 p.m. This year the Heritage Council promotes the conservation of our cultural and natural heritage to honor our past, enrich our present, and inspire our future.
