Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez today announced that Mikey C. Tyson Tahdooahnippah Jr., 32, of Topeka, was sentenced to 20 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections for possession of methamphetamine.
Charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on April 9, 2019, when Lawrence Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle where Tyson Tahdooahnippah was the passenger. Police found Tyson Tahdooahnippah, who was on bond for possession of opiates in Shawnee County at the time, was in possession of more than 30 grams of methamphetamine.
“Possessing a hefty amount of illegal drugs while already facing convictions for similar crimes is a violation of trust and the law,” District Attorney Valdez said. “Those who endanger our community must face serious consequences.”
Tyson Tahdooahnippah’s sentence will run consecutively to his convictions in Shawnee County. Judge Stacey Donovan also sentenced Tyson Tahdooahnippah to 12 months of post-release supervision.
Senior Assistant District Attorney David Greenwald represented the State of Kansas. The matter was investigated by the Lawrence Kansas Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
