Overbook man pleads to using a firearm during an aggravated assault

Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez today announced that Kevin Lee Lemon, 54, of Overbrook, pleaded no contest to aggravated assault.
“Combatting gun violence that threatens the safety and well-being of everyone in our community remains at the top of my office’s agenda,” District Attorney Valdez said.
Charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on August 31, 2023, when Lemon held a firearm during an altercation with a 73-year-old man in a home located in the 600 block of N. 500 Road in Overbrook.
Sentencing was set by Judge Amy Hanley for 9:30 a.m., on August 15, 2024, at the Douglas County Judicial and Law Enforcement Center.
Lemon faces between 11 and 34 months in prison. Lemon also must register as a violent offender for 15 years.
Senior Assistant District Attorney Adam Carey represented the State of Kansas. The matter was investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
