Can I get a copy of my deed? What if I lost my deed?

Once recorded, a copy may be obtained from the Register of Deeds office and certified with an official stamp. There is a fee for the copy and the certification. See Register of Deeds fee schedule

You can obtain a copy in several ways:

  • The easiest way to get your document is to purchase a copy through our E-Certify web portal, you may view this document by creating a free account. This will give you access to all the Register of Deeds records. 
  • Alternatively, you may pay us over the phone and have the images emailed directly to you. Phone:785-832-5282
  • You can also pick up a copy in our office at 11th and Massachusetts Street, Lawrence, KS.

The Register of Deeds can provide you with a certified copy of any recorded document with a few exceptions (i.e. court records, birth certificates). Extra fees apply when obtaining certified copies.
