Meeting summary

During today’s Douglas County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) meeting, Lawrence Police Chief Rich Lockhart provided an overview of the department’s accreditation process with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the Kansas Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (KLEAP), as well as their recent implicit bias training. KU Police Chief Nelson Mosley talked about his department’s accreditation process with KLEAP as well.

Lockhart and Criminal Justice Coordinator Katy Fitzgerald discussed plans for continuation of the pedestrian and traffic stop study in Douglas County.

Additionally, Fitzgerald discussed the CJCC member survey. Senior Data Analyst Matt Cravens talked about a few new statistics that he will be providing in his weekly report regarding the jail population.
