Lawrence, Kan. – Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez today announced that Michael Hormell, 21, of Lawrence was sentenced to 18 years for aggravated robbery and attempted voluntary manslaughter.

District Court Judge Amy Hanley sentenced Hormell to 216 months for aggravated robbery and 32 months for attempted voluntary manslaughter, to be served concurrently in the Kansas Department of Corrections.

The State was represented by Valdez and Deputy District Attorney Joshua Seiden. The case was investigated by the Lawrence Police Department, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
