Join Somos Lawrence and the Ballard Center for a celebration of Dia de Muertos or Day of the Dead on Thursday, Nov. 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in John Taylor Park in North Lawrence.

There will be a community altar honoring all who departed in the context of gun violence.

The Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council funded the project as part of the 2023 Natural and Cultural Heritage Grant awards. Other partners involved in the project include the Percolator Arts Collective, Common Ground community gardening and urban agriculture program, Moms Demand Action, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
