Community Sensemaking Session

Hosted By: Douglas County

Join the Douglas County Economic Mobility Project on Monday, Dec. 15, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Lied Center Pavilion, 1600 Stewart Drive, for a community sensemaking session. Participants will explore data and stories from Douglas County Thrives, a new story-collection effort focused on gathering the perspectives of low-income and single-parent/caregiver families to inform local policy and practice.

Facilitators from the University of Kansas Center for Public Partnerships and Research will guide small-group discussions about the survey data and the experiences families shared. The stories explore what it means to thrive, and what it feels like to just get by.

Grounded in the voices of the Douglas County community, the goal of the session is to work toward a better understanding of how to better support low-income and single-parent families in Douglas County.

Light snacks will be provided. Please RSVP by emailing jjolicoeur@dgcoks.gov by Dec. 11.
