Join us for the 2019 Statewide Tornado Drill!
Douglas County Emergency Management will be participating in the Statewide Tornado Drill on Tuesday, March 5th at 10AM in conjunction with Severe Weather Awareness Week. DCEM will be activating the Outdoor Warning Sirens (weather permitting), utilizing social media and conducting a Voice Alert Radio broadcast for schools, agencies and businesses with a receiver. You may see the scroll on your local television station and your weather radio may go off. Prior to the drill, DCEM will send a notification (text and email) to all individuals who have signed up to receive alerts from Douglas County through the Northeast Kansas Regional Notification System.
How do you participate?
- Prior to the drill, review your severe weather plan at home, work, daycare, etc.
- At 10AM, execute your plan wherever you are (home, work, brunch, school, etc.)
- Show us you participated by sharing your photos via social media! Tag us!!
- After the drill, identify if you need to make any chances to the drill.
