In celebration of preservation month, the Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council and Lawrence Preservation Alliance invite the public to participate in a special walking tour on Saturday, May 14th. Meet on the 3rd floor of the Watkins Museum of History at 10:30. The tour will include: a behind the scenes tour of preservation work in progress at the Watkins, an exploration of the historic Douglas County Courthouse, a close-up look at South Park's historic treasures, a glimpse at the business block south of 11th & Mass, and a tour of the 1940 Art Moderne Armory/Lawrence Community Building. Donation: $5 per adult to benefit the restoration of the stained glass windows at the Watkins Museum. No reservations required except for groups of 8 or more.  Bring the kids!
