Hosted By: Douglas County Drug Court
Douglas County Drug Court program team members and participants invite the community to join them in Recovery Walk event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, on the east side of South Park, 1411 Massachusetts St. There will be luminarias and signs along the sidewalks that will promote the hope of recovery for those who struggle with substances.
The guest speaker will be Jermaine Wilson who will share his journey of being an inmate in a maximum prison to the Mayor of Leavenworth, his hometown.
The Recovery Walk is being held in conjunction with National Recovery Month. Recovery Month celebrates the gains made by those in recovery, just as we celebrate health improvements made by those who are managing other health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, asthma and heart disease. This observance reinforces the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover.
