Job Description

The Douglas County District Court Trustee is accepting applications for a full-time Paralegal. This is a highly responsible position primarily providing support to the Court Trustee in the enforcement of child and spousal support.

Duties Include

•    Monitoring child support and maintenance payment records
•    Taking enforcement action to collect support
•    Telephonic communication with obligors, obligees and employers
•    Analyzing cases to identify appropriate collection action 
•    Proofreading documents and letters
•    Preparing legal pleadings
•    Working closely with attorneys to identify and review appropriate enforcement action
•    Providing back up coverage for the front counter and phones
•    General office duties and special assignments as needed

Qualifications  

High school education; customer service experience; excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills; efficiency in computer skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook); proofreading skills; attention to detail; excellent communication skills and organizational skills; and ability to multi-task, work independently and with team members, and maintain confidentiality. 
Preferred Qualifications: Prior legal experience in area of support enforcement or debt collection; prior experience working within a court system; paralegal or associate’s degree.
