Media Release

The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office will close its physical office to the public at least through Friday, January 26, 2024. District Attorney staff will continue to be present for court hearings that proceed in person.

Late in the evening on January 23, 2024, the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center (JLEC) sustained fire damage to a basement area occupied by the District Court, displacing a number of District Attorney employees. Due to recent upgrades in office technology and infrastructure, the District Attorney’s Office will maintain operations as usual with a few temporary adjustments, including having staff working remotely when possible.

“The health and safety of our team are paramount,” said District Attorney Suzanne Valdez. “We do not know how long the repairs will take, but, due to our plan for continuity of operations, we are able to provide our full array services to our community.”
