Douglas County District Attorney Suzanne Valdez today announced that a jury found Ralph G. Bowman, 56, of Overland Park, guilty Tuesday of driving under the influence, his second offense.

“When individuals choose to drive impaired, they endanger the lives of everyone in our community,” District Attorney Valdez said.

Charges stemmed from an incident that occurred on November 18, 2021, when Bowman had driven into a power pole located in the 600 block of U.S. Highway 40 in Douglas County.

Assistant District Attorney Jacob Kuckelman and Assistant District Attorney Brian Deiter represented the State of Kansas. The matter was investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The defendant was represented by local attorney Samuel Natale.

Sentencing was set by Judge Blake Glover for 1:30 p.m. on September 13, 2024, at the Douglas County Judicial and Law Enforcement Center. For the misdemeanor conviction, Bowman faces up to 12 months in the county jail.
