Kansas is an “open records state”, what does that mean? How do I request open records?

The Kansas Open Records Act allows individuals to inspect and obtain copies of public records, as long as those records are not exempt from disclosure. 

• Most documents recorded at the Douglas County Register of Deeds are viewable by the public.
• The District Court handles open records requests through their open records request form.
• The District Attorney has their own open records request form
