Breaking the Cycle of Behavioral Health Crisis: 2018 vs. Today

In 2018, Douglas County residents experiencing severe mental illness and substance use disorder often found themselves caught in a revolving door that kept them struggling unnecessarily in the community or bouncing back and forth between the emergency department and/or the jail. Today, with the 988 crisis line, mobile crisis response team, Treatment and Recovery campus, and a wide array of post-crisis community support services, the revolving doors have decreased and the path to recovery is more direct, easier to access, and more people-centered.
