Heritage Conservation Council (HCC) Meeting on Sat, February 21, 2015 - 9:30 AM

Meeting Information

Public Meeting to be held on Eudora and Kanwaka Intensive Surveys at Lawrence Union Pacific Depot. The Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council was awarded a grant from the Kansas Historical Society to conduct an intensive historic survey study of properties in Eudora and Kanwaka Townships. An initial survey has already been completed of more than 600 properties; approximately 45 were identified as potentially eligible for state or national historic register listing. This grant will gather additional data on Douglas County's historic resources. The study consists of two components, a field study and a project report.

A public information meeting will be held to provide additional information to property owners and other parties interested in finding out more about this project. The meeting site is centrally located for residents in Eudora and Kanwaka Townships and will be an informal drop-in format led by Stan Hernly (architectural consultant for the study).

The meeting will be held on Saturday, February 21st from 9:30-12:30 p.m. at the restored Lawrence Union Pacific Depot Building - home of the Lawrence Visitor Information Center located at 402 N. 2nd Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

Please contact Stan or Joni Hernly with Hernly Associates, Inc. , 785-749-5806 if you have questions about the project or historical information about your property.
