The Douglas County Treasurer’s Office mailed real estate and personal property tax statements to Douglas County taxpayers on Wednesday, Nov. 24.

The first-half real estate and personal property taxes are due on or before Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, and the second-half taxes are due on or before Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

The statements are different this year because the county implemented a new tax system. An information sheet was included with the statements to explain the changes. If taxes are paid by the mortgage company, the statement will say: “THIS IS NOT A BILL” and “YOUR TAX BILL HAS BEEN SENT TO YOUR MORTGAGE COMPANY” at the bottom. For taxpayers who pay their statements directly, there will be a return payment stub at the bottom of the statement.

Taxpayers have multiple options available to pay taxes:

ONLINE – Through the website, https://propertyinfo.douglascountyks.org. Replacement bills, receipts and address changes can be processed from this site.

BY MAIL – Taxpayers can mail a check along with the payment stub to: Douglas County Treasurer, 1100 Massachusetts Street, Lawrence, KS 66044. Please include the REF ID in the memo section of the check.

IN PERSON – Payments can made with cash, check, money order or credit card. There is a processing fee for all credit cards. Payments can be made at the Treasurer’s Office two Lawrence locations:

  • Courthouse, 1100 Massachusetts Street
  • South Satellite, 2000 W. 31st Street, Suite B

BY DROP BOX – Please include QuickRefID or PIN with payments, which can be placed in one of the drop box locations in Lawrence:

  • Courthouse, 1100 Massachusetts Street
  • South Satellite, 2000 W. 31st Street, Suite B
