In alignment with Douglas County Unified Command partners, Douglas County will be requiring face coverings in all Douglas County buildings, regardless of vaccination status, beginning Monday, August 9. The requirement of face coverings applies to County employees and members of the public who visit buildings that are owned, operated and leased by the county. These include the County Courthouse, Human Services building, fairgrounds buildings, Public Works and Zoning and Codes, new Elections office, Judicial and Law Enforcement Center, Juvenile Detention Center, 1006 New Hampshire Street building and Douglas County Correctional Facility.

Throughout the pandemic, the County has been working with Unified Command partners and following the latest health and safety guidance from Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Last week, the CDC advised that all individuals – regardless of vaccination status – wear masks in indoor spaces in regions of the country experiencing substantial COVID-19 transmission.

This is a continuously evolving situation. The County will work with Unified Command and use the most up-to-date information to adapt as necessary moving forward.
