Several heritage organizations in the area are partnering on an exciting digital offering for the public: The Great Douglas County History Hunt. From October 30 to November 8, the public can take a GPS-enabled tour of county historic sites and be entered in a drawing for valuable prize baskets.

The Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council and Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area are taking the lead on planning this event, which features 13 sites around the county. Three prize baskets of roughly $100 value will be available, featuring items from 10 different local businesses.

Directions for the Great Douglas County History Hunt are simple. Participants will download the FFNHA app or open the History Hunt page — ffnha.oncell.com/en/the-great-douglas-county-history-hunt-254779.html — on their mobile device and follow the instructions to earn digital badges for all sites and qualify for the prize drawing. Participants simply need to fall within the GPS coordinates for each site in order to collect the badges, enabling them to go on the hunt at any time during the event.

The Great Douglas County History Hunt will provide a unique and easy way to enjoy local history.
