Public Works anticipates the pavement rehabilitation project on portions of Route 438 and Route 1029 will resume Tuesday, April 7, or Wednesday, April 8. The pavement rehabilitation project began in late September 2019 and was suspended through the winter. This spring, the work will be on Route 438 (North 1800 Road; Farmers' Turnpike) from Berry Plastics to the Route 438/K-10 (SLT) intersection.

Pavement work on Route 1029 from North 2050 Road to Route 438 was completed last fall; however, installation of section corner monument boxes and side road paved aprons will be completed this spring.

One-lane traffic controlled by a pilot vehicle will be carried through the construction zone. Motorists should anticipate travel delays of several minutes.

The Board of County Commissioners awarded a contract in the amount of $1,263,894 to Hamm, Inc. for the work, and approved extending the work from Berry Plastics east to the K-10 (SLT) intersection for a total project construction cost of $1,748,449. The work includes patching deteriorated pavement areas and overlaying the existing pavement with 3 inches of new asphalt pavement.

Public Works anticipates the work to be completed by mid-May 2020, weather permitting.
