Motor vehicle satellite office fees are now $5 per vehicle

In December, the Douglas County Commission approved an increase to motor vehicle satellite office fees from $2 per vehicle to $5 per vehicle. The new fees began Jan. 1, 2019.

Satellite offices are located at:

  • 2000 W. 31st St., Suite B in Lawrence
  • 3000 W. Sixth St., inside of Dillons grocery store in Lawrence
  • 112 Eighth St. in Baldwin City

The increase will yield about $110,000 annually to help offset expenses associated with staffing, technology and facilities. State funding has remained stagnant while motor vehicle registration expenses have increased. The goal of the satellite locations is to improve accessibility and convenience for Douglas County residents.

**Transactions processed at the County Courthouse, 1100 Massachusetts Street, or by mail are not subject to the satellite fee.
