Lone Star Lake will be closed to all boating activities on Saturday, September 16, early morning through the afternoon.  The closure is to due to the CSCAA National Collegiate Open Water Swimming Championship being held at the lake.  All boat ramps will be closed beginning Saturday morning through the finish of all race activities.  If weather prohibits holding the race on Saturday, the race will be held on Sunday, September 17.

Groups of race participants will practice on the swim course on Friday, September 15 accompanied by kayaks.  Please exercise caution while boating on Friday, and steer well clear of any groups of swimmers.  Please remember…Lone Star Lake is a “no wake” lake.

The race course begins near the swimming beach, then generally follows the north shore to the west end of the dam, turns south to follow the west shore, turns east just north of the southwest arm of the lake, then follows the east shore back to the swimming beach.  The women’s race is scheduled to begin at 8:30 Saturday morning, and the men’s race is scheduled to begin at 10:00 Saturday morning, all weather permitting.

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) is overseeing the event.  This event is open to current NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA member institutions.  We anticipate approximately 70 male athletes and 70 female athletes participating in the races.
