About the Move

The Douglas County Public Works Department and Zoning & Codes Department are moving to a new facility beginning Wednesday, April 22, through Friday, April 24, 2015. Department-provided services and communications to both departments will be limited during the moving period.

The new facility is located at 3755 E. 25th Street, Lawrence, KS 66046. The current phone numbers for both departments will remain. We anticipate the following main phone numbers will be operational sometime during the morning hours of Thursday, April 23.

Public Works Administration & Engineering: 785-832-5293

Public Works Operations: 785-331-1330

Zoning & Codes Department: 785-331-1343

Public Works Changes

The new facility will house the entire Public Works Department and will replace the current offices on Massachusetts Street and operations and fleet maintenance facilities on East 23rd Street. Phones and email access for individual employees may not be operational until Friday, April 24, afternoon.

Zoning and Codes Changes

The Zoning and Codes Department will have different hours of operation during the move since we are relied on by building permit holders for inspections. The following is our anticipated moving schedule:

  • April 21, 2015 - All inspections will need to be requested by the 5:00 pm.
  • April 22, 2015 - Inspections will be conducted. Zoning & Codes department will be out of communication by phone or email.
  • April 23, 2015 - NO BUILDING INSPECTIONS. Anticipated phone and email communication should be restored by the afternoon.

With the new location, we will also have new office hours after April 23, 2015 is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for your convenience.

Thank You for Your Patience

We look forward to conducting business with you at our new facility.
