Douglas County Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge trade show on Fri, Dec. 6 — 9-10:45 a.m.

The Douglas County Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge trade show is open the public and will be 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at the Lawrence College and Career Center, 2910 Haskell Ave. A dozen student teams will have a booth about their business and may have products to buy.

Here are the businesses and the students’ descriptions of them:

• Brownie Points sells an assortment of brownies.

• Bubbles Swimming School offers private swim lessons for children.

• Chocolate Boulevard sales Brigadeiro, a Brazilian dessert.

• Hype Floats specializes in root beer floats.

• Killjoy Keychains sells eco-friendly keychains and allows people to express themselves.

• MidWest Wings Taxidermy offers hunters with an option to have waterfowl or upland birds mounted.

• The Music Note Association raises money to help students who want to pursue music.

• RV Dog Walking is a dog walking and cleanup service.

• Simply Made sells handmade bracelets.

• Hippie Cat is a clothing resale business.

• Cosmic Cat Designs offers to create artwork on shoes through painting.

• Al’s Design creates advertisements for businesses or programs.

The trade show is part of the half-day competition which also consists of preparing a written business plan, an elevator pitch and formal presentation. Students compete for $3,500 in prize money. The students’ work is judged by local entrepreneurs, teachers and community leaders. This will be the third year for the Douglas County event.
