The historic Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Massachusetts Street, designed by famous architect John G. Haskell, has been a landmark in Northeast Kansas since its construction in 1903. Douglas County invites local organizations to display their artwork on its second floor, so that they may take part in its history. This will become a rotating exhibition in the administration department of the courthouse. 

This exhibit intends to bring visibility and awareness to organizations within the county and showcase their positive impacts throughout the community. Each participating organization will display their work for two months at a time. In addition to supporting the county’s relationships with local organizations, this exhibition will be an expression of the talent and culture throughout Douglas County’s communities. From children’s finger paintings to evocative photography, visitors will be able to view these displays of community and collaboration in the historical center of Douglas County. 

If your organization would like to be considered for participation, please contact Jake Broadbent at jbroadbent@dgcoks.gov. Each participating organization will be expected to display between four and 32 pieces of art, depending on the size of the work. The total weight of all of the art cannot exceed 325 pounds. This means that if the maximum of 32 pieces are submitted, each piece must weigh 10 pounds or less. As the Courthouse is open to people of all ages, Douglas County withholds the right to reject specific displays that may contain rude, vulgar, or inappropriate text or imagery.
