Douglas County, Bert Nash Center seeking applications for Treatment & Recovery Center advisory group

December 15, 2023 10:24 am

Douglas County and Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center encourage individuals to apply to serve on an advisory group for the Treatment & Recovery Center (TRC) of Douglas County.

They are seeking community members who represent the following sectors:

  • physician/clinical expertise

  • community advocates

  • lived experience with mental illness, substance use disorders, suicidality and/or housing insecurity

  • first responders or justice system representatives

  • organizational management, human services or legal representatives

The TRC provides assessment, treatment and coordination of care for people experiencing a mental health, substance use or co-occurring disorder. It serves as the lifeline for immediate access to care and connects people to community resources. TRC staff work closely with first responders and community agencies to provide quality and compassionate care in a timely manner. The TRC opened in April 2023 and has served more than 800 people.

The advisory group will meet on a quarterly basis and will provide consensus-based recommendations, guide quality improvement, work collaboratively to promote integration of care among providers, and provide a forum for elevating challenges and implementing solutions.

“We are looking forward to working with advisory members who will bring new viewpoints and expertise to the table to help us better serve Douglas County residents,” Douglas County Director of Behavioral Health Projects Bob Tryanski said.

Anyone who is interested can apply by filling out the board application form that is located on the Douglas County’s website: http://dgcoks.org/boardapplication. Applications are due Jan. 15, 2024. Douglas County and Bert Nash Center staff will reach out to applicants, and then they will provide their recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners for appointment to the TRC advisory group.

For questions, individuals can contact Tryanski at btryanski@dgcoks.gov or 785-551-8747.
