Electronics Recycling (E-Waste)

Since 2008, the City of Lawrence and Douglas County have hosted periodic events where residents can drop off their recyclable electronics for responsible disposal.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 21, when City of Lawrence will host the 2025 Electronics Recycling Event from 9AM to 1PM at Free State High School.

Visit https://lawrenceks.org/mso/electronics-recycling/ for full event details, including accepted items and associated fees.

Those looking for other options to recycle electronics should utilize the recyclable materials directory to find additional drop-off sites and other recycling options throughout the year.

The annual recycling event is the only government-sponsored electronics disposal option offered at this time.

Historical Data

The totals of materials diverted through these local events since 2008 is shown in the table below. Years 2008-2018 reflect the combined totals from two electronics recycling events per year. Totals from years 2020-2024 were from one event per year. Events that also collected paper for shredding are in parenthesis.
