Douglas County Courthouse elevator is planned to be out of service Wednesday, October 19, 2016 through Monday, October 24, 2016.  The first, second and third floors of the Douglas County Courthouse, at 1100 Massachusetts St. in Lawrence, will not be accessible by elevator during that time period.  All services will be available for citizens with disabilities on the lower level from October 19th through the 24th.  The project is planned to be completed by Tuesday, October 25th.

All services provided in the Courthouse will continue to be available to all citizens throughout this time period.  Services provided in the Courthouse include the County Clerk and Elections, County Treasurer and Motor Vehicle registration, Register of Deeds, County Administrator, Board of County Commissioners, and Administrative Services including employment.  Citizens that cannot utilize the stairs should enter the Courthouse on the North side at the ADA accessible entrance and County staff will come to assist them.  Signs will be posted directing citizens with disability to staff that can assist them.

Advanced voting will begin at the Courthouse and be available to all registered voters during this time period.  Because of the disruption in service, all satellite location fees will be waived for the County Treasurer Motor Vehicle Registration services.  Motor Vehicle Registration satellite locations are 2000 W. 31st Street, Suite B, and inside the Dillons Grocery Store at 3000 W. 6th St. in Lawrence.
